The Liberty Cane, a revolutionary new design in walking assistance devices, recently was awarded the Ease-of-Use Commendation from the Arthritis Foundation. Manufactured in the United States, the Liberty Cane is designed to be easy to use while increasing the confidence of the user when walking.

The Liberty Cane comes to the marketplace at a time when arthritis is the greatest contributor to mobility limitations in the Unites States, and there is a growing interest in "arthritis friendly" products. The cane received the Arthritis Foundation commendation after it was submitted for testing by an independent lab and reviewed by individuals living with arthritis.

"The Arthritis Foundation Ease-of-Use Commendation provides an independent level of assurance for individuals looking for improved products. We are proud that the Liberty Cane is the first walking stick to receive this endorsement", said John Coakley, Liberty's Vice President.

Designed and engineered by a cane user to be comfortable and functional for people with arthritis and other conditions, it features an ergonomically designed handle that is easy to grasp and provides a secure grip. The non-skid rubber sole does not slide while in use, and an 'Emergency Assist Grip' can be removed from the handle to aid users in rising back to their feet from the ground. A new feeling of confidence and stability is afforded to users of the Liberty Cane which does not get caught under self-closing doors.

"Mobility issues will continue to be important for our society, especially as our population ages and the prevalence of osteoarthritis increases," said Mary Norman, group vice president for Strategic Marketing Alliances with the Arthritis Foundation. "Advances in the design of canes and other assistance devices will be critical to ensuring that those with arthritis can continue to have a high level of independence, mobility and quality of life."

Some comments received from the test evaluators, all of whom have arthritis: "I can honestly say that it works - I used it"; "Secure; it truly is easy to use"; "It did well on gravel, grass, pine straw, and concrete - I felt very secure"; "I felt much more stability on uneven ground with this cane"; "I've never seen anything like the tip on this cane - it really rolls through the step with you".

The vast majority of users reported that "the Liberty Cane was better than any other canes that they had used in the past"; and 100% of them reported that they "would recommend the Liberty Cane to their friends with arthritis".

The Liberty Cane is available in Black, Cabernet, or Yellow for extra visibility in crowded situations. It is different in thinking, material, and execution from anything ever seen. A combination of Space Age materials and common sense, it will benefit anyone who uses a cane.
